Masters Of Color: Matisse, Bonnard, And Diebenkorn
March 30th - April 2nd, 2009 10 am - 4 pm
This unique workshop looks at both the theory and practice of color through the eyes of three great masters of 20th century art. We'll study each of these artist's palettes, techniques, and compositions, and then apply these lessons to our own painting. This is both an in-depth art history seminar and a hands-on intensive painting class. Work in acrylic or watercolor. Some previous painting experience required.

Vermont Landscape Painting Retreats with Susan Abbott
Autumn Landscape: Thursday, October 1st to Wednesday, October 7th, 2009
Summer landscape: Thursday, August 6th to Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Join me in the beautiful Vermont countryside for an intensive landscape painting retreat. The class will work plein air in the surrounding fields, farms, gardens and forests. Landscape study will continue in my studio where the class can focus on composition and color, with an extensive art library as a resource. There will be ample time for personal instruction and critiques.
This is a great opportunity to experience one of our country’s most scenic areas during autumn’s famous leaf season or the lovely New England summer. And you will have a week of concentrated activity, a retreat that will improve your landscape painting skills and immerse you in visual art.
Media: watercolor, oil, acrylic or pastel. Some prior painting experience is required, but first time plein air or landscape painters welcome.
Location:
My 1840’s farmhouse home and studio are situated on 20 acres of woods and meadows in the hills of northern Vermont above the town of Plainfield, and across a dirt road from the 600 acre Marshfield Town Forest. 20 minutes away is Montpelier, the smallest state capital, a charming and lively town with restaurants, book stores, interesting shops, theaters and an art supply store.
Tuition: $495. (Includes five days studio and plein air instruction 9:30 am - 4:30 pm, lunches and snacks, transport to painting sites if without car.)
For more information on the workshop, email or call me at 802-454-1621. You can register with the Art League School at 703-683-2323 or on their website. |
